East African Legislative Assembly, Bujumbura, Burundi: December 7th 2018:
Athletics and Tug-of-War dominated Day 7 and 8 of the Inter-Parliamentary Games in Bujumbura. Parliament of Uganda won the 100 metres through Maureen Osoro with Katwesigye Olivia taking second place in the women’s category. The 800 metre race went Parliament of Tanzania’s Yossea Komba while Hon Anna Adeke finished second. Third place went to Hon Ciderya Anna of Tanzania. In the 800 metres Men, Hon Acon Julius scooped first place followed by Kenyan compatriots, Hon Patrick Mariro and Hon Kandie Joshua.
Parliament of Tanzania took the 4x400 Men’s relay with Uganda, Burundi and Kenya taking second, third and fourth place respectively. In the women’s 4x 400 metres category, Parliament of Kenya took first place with Uganda, Parliament of Tanzania and Parliament of Burundi crossing the tape in second and third place respectively. In the 200 metres race, Hon Nixon Kipkorir and Hon Dan Wanyama of Parliament of Kenya crossed the line first and second respectively while the third place went to Parliament of Uganda’s Hon Mbwateka.
In women’s volleyball, Parliament of Tanzania beat Parliament of Kenya 3-1. Kenya won the first set (25-20) while Parliament of Tanzania carried set 2, set 3 and set 4 scooping (25-9), (25-21) and (25-18) respectively.
In men’s volleyball, Parliament of Tanzania lost 3 sets to 1 to Team EALA. EALA won the first two sets (25-19) and (27-25) in a match played yesterday but called off due to poor lighting. On resumption today, Parliament of Tanzania won the third set 25-13 before EALA completed the next set (25-20).
In women’s volleyball, Parliament of Burundi whipped EALA 3 Sets to 0 scooping (25-7), (25-9) and (25-14).
The Inter-Parliamentary Games continue until December 9th, 2018.
