East African Legislative Assembly, Kampala, Uganda, December 15, 2019: A strong 10-man Team Kenya, led by Hon Kanini Kega scooped first place at the golf tournament played in Entebbe. The two-day event saw Kenya garner a total of 198 points. Hon Kanini Kega, MP for Kieni Constituency in Nyeri County, amassed a total of 66 points. Parliament of Uganda finished second with 147 points, Parliament of Tanzania, 3rd on 59 points and EALA, which fielded one participant, Hon Dr Damas Ndumbaro finished 4th with 27 points.
In ladies golf, Hon Sarah Kityo tacked a total of 59 points, leveraging Parliament of Uganda to the Summit with a total of 160 points. Coming in second was Parliament of Kenya with 49 points.
Meanwhile in Men’s tug of war, Parliament of Kenya has won all its 4 matches against the rival Parliaments and is expected to be declared winner. In second place is Parliament of Tanzania, followed by Parliament of Uganda. EALA were unlucky, losing all matches in the league to finish forth.
Meanwhile, action returns to the MTN Lugogo Indoor stadium Monday morning. In men’s volleyball, Parliament of Kenya will face off with Parliament of Uganda in the first match before Parliament of Burundi take on Parliament of Burundi in the second match of the day. In the women’s volleyball category, EALA is to lock horns with Parliament of Burundi in the first match. In the second billing, Parliament of Kenya is pitted to face Parliament of Tanzania.
Later in the afternoon, Parliament of Kenya is expected to tackle Parliament of Tanzania in a mouth-watering clash at the St Mary’s Stadium Kitende Stadium. In netball matters, Parliament of Burundi will welcome Parliament of Tanzania in the only match of the day. In basketball, Parliament of Burundi will then meet EALA in the last match of the day at the indoor stadium, Lugogo
