Message of Condolence Following the Death of Justice Moijo Ole Keiwua, Judge of the Court of Appeal in the Republic of Kenya

STATEMENT BY RT. HON. ABDIRAHIN HAITHAR ABDI – SPEAKER, EALA)

On behalf of the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) and on my own behalf, I wish to express my heartfelt condolences to the Government of the Republic of Kenya, the family, relatives and friends of the late Justice Moijo Ole Keiwua, Judge of the Court of Appeal, upon his untimely death on Saturday, October 9, 2011.

It is indeed with deep sadness that EALA has learnt of the death of one of the pioneers of the current EAC, in which Justice Moijo Ole Keiwua served as the President of the East African Court of Justice (EACJ) between November 2001 and November 2007.

In the passing on of Judge Ole Keiwua, the region has lost a great towering legal mind who served the bench with boundless dedication, utmost humility and commitment for nearly thirty years.   We shall indeed miss his noble service.

We pray that the Almighty God will comfort the family and loved ones at this hour of grief.

May his soul rest in eternal peace.
